the first test you should do with a unworkable drive is run a lens cleaner through it,this is sometimes all it needs as dust can settle on the lens and can cause all sorts of problems
look in device manager and check to see if your drive is running ok and if so,you could try uninstalling the drive and then restarting, when windows starts up again it will recognize the drive as a new device and load the appropriate drivers,so if the problem was a driver file error, this will sort it out
however ,cd/dvd,s dont last forever(around 5yrs),so it may just be a dead drive,so a new drive is in order, luckily its one of the cheaper upgrades,a dvd-rw can be bought from http://www.dabs.com/productlist.aspx?&NavigationKey=11155&NavigationKey=4294959720&NavigationKey=43050000&NavigationKey=11&CategorySelectedId=11155&PageMode=1
for around £25 and if you really want to splash out, invest in a lightscribe drive ,which will scribe images on your disc, latest technology
good luck

Without more information it's incredibly hard to make a diagnosis. If you can't load any CD's onto the drive at all (i.e. it won't read them), then you may have a hardware fault. If you can load CD's but the games themselves won't then it gets a bit more complicated. Different games have different solutions to CD related troubles. However if it's a universal problem then you may have to look into some generic solutions; Check that the connections to your CD drive are plugged in fully. Update/Reinstall the drivers for your CD drive. Without more information then it's hard to give you a full answer. My advice would be to google your Hard-Drives make and see if other people have had the same problem. Nine times out of ten someone somewhere will have asked the same question and been given an answer. If it's not on the company's main site, it may be on some forum somewhere.
