i think the suggestion to show the video of the death of such a terrific man is so sick and offensive, i have visited australia zoo and can say i have never been to anywhere else where all animals are treated with the utmost respect, and are not just there for people to look at, the educational side of the zoo is exceptional and its thanks to steve irwin and his staff that this is possible, after all we would not know what animals are to be avoided etc, he was a straightforward up frong guy who told how it was with a great sense of humour, and never put anything or anyone down, those of you who want to get a buzz out of people dying should get a life and think about the mans family and friends and workmates, instead go to those sick sites and satisfy your cravings in other ways BURN the video, we in the uk as a whole care and stuff the rest who dont.

Yes. I thought he was gambling with death all the time, but in reality, I thought he had enough support with his film crews that he would die an old man in his bed. Being taken out by a stingray at 44 years old was not what I think anyone had in mind. It's really a loss to the world. And his 2 very little children....it's sad. A waste really.
He was my daughter's first exposure to the concept of animal conservation. I'm a meat eater and a hunter, but somehow, thanks to Steve Irwin and Animal Planet, my daughter has developed into a real tree-hugger. lol. Because of Steve's influence, her dream is to become an animal rehabilitation specialist. She wants to care for sick and injured animals with the goal of releasing them into the wild. Steve's reach went far beyond my own daughter. He had an influence on an entire generation. He taught us about animals and behaviors that we would have never encountered otherwise. He did his job well. He and his family should be proud of his legacy.

I've been really upset and depressed since this tragic event. I can't stop thinking about it. God should of took me and instead of him coz no soul on this planet or in the whole universe can replace the crocodile hunter. I really missed Steve Irwin.

I was shocked when I turned on the t.v. at 1 a.m. Monday morning and saw that on the news. It is very sad but honestly now thinking about it....I'm not surprised. In the line of work that he did it was something that could have happened at any time.
Look on the bright side though...at least he died doing something that he loved to do.

i will never forget the image of steve irwin talking to the camera while sharks were in a feeding frenzy all around him while he stood in the water...the guy was a crazy kook but he was fascinating, funny and very entertaining...i kind of felt one day his luck would run out the way he took risks dealing with wildlife but i would never have guessed it would take a stingray to be the culprit....my condolences to his friends and family....he was one of a kind and his legacy will continue as his shows run on animal planet

I feel very sad for his wife & children . He gave his life to nature and nature took his life . It would of been worse if he had died from bird flu ! he died doing what he loved wrestling with danger ,taking risk and risking his life. He lived alife of russian roulette . I do feel sad that he died though and cried when I heard it .

Yes I think he was a bit of an icon, and a real Croc Dundee! Praying for the rest of the family though it must be really hard on them.

i quite in no way watched his shows yet i became so unhappy for days. I loved his zest for existence and his enthusiasm for his artwork. i believe so undesirable for his spouse and daughters. i recognize what it truly is opt to lose a figure as a baby and that's dreadfully unhappy. yet when he had to die so youthful, a minimum of he died doing what he loved quite of a vehicle crash or some thing like that.
