Lay off the Poles. They have come to the UK to work and not scrounge. Ask any employer and they will tell you that they are very satisfied with their Polish employees. They have taken a lot of the jobs which are the hardest to fill because they are low paid. Aim your anger at the so-called asylum seekers who have come over expecting to be housed and given a lot of money in benefits. A lot of them should have been shoved straight back on the first available plane. They are a drain on resources.

No, the company were my husband works had 250 vacancies and not one British person wanted a job there, so they went to Poland and got people from over there to take the jobs, they seem to be doing the jobs no one else here wanted, since they started working at my husbands company everyone has got a wage rise, everyone is on the same rate of pay, the atmosphere is much more relaxed and everyone gets on with each other, we have always had immigrants in this country, lots of Polish people came here after the second world war, without the immigrants we wouldn't have survived in a lot of industries because the British people thought those jobs were beneath them.

The main cause of unemployment is when the demand for jobs is low and the supply of workers is high, relatively speaking.

We have a government that has made a minimum wage, this hasn't affected things too much when the economy is growing faster than those wanting to work of working age, but now house prices are slower than wages and general prices and interest rates are going up, consumption and demand is going down and the bad effects of the minimum wage will increase.

Most Eastern Europeans are young, hardworking and better qualified. The UK education system and it's pupils produces too many low skilled, functionally inumerate and illiterate people that are also indisciplined and unreliable...and then wonder why they can't get jobs, let alone decent ones.

There is also a need for Eastern Europe to reform their economies so that there is better economic growth and jobs in their own country so they don't need to migrate, particularly Poland where their nationalistic and economically myopic governments aren't doing enough in this area.

So far, the migration is good for us, especially as they have migrated widely across the UK, the SouthEast, EastAnglia and even Scotland...there were heaps of them in Edinburgh on my visits there this year! More, better workers make it easier to deal with an ageing population, pensions and healthcare costs involved with that. Combine that with older people emigrating to France and Spain, even better!

We are allowing it to happen because it is good for us and our economy. Ireland and Sweden have had similar benefits, people coming to our countries are signs that we are doing something right! France, Germany and Italy have sclerotic economies particularly in their labour/work markets and massively bigger problems with spiralling pension/health care budgets as their populations age more rapidly than ours, let alone Germany and Italy's dreadfully low birth rates. All these things combine to worsen their countries. It's a shame they don't take their share of the benefits, as it could make things much better for them if they joined in a proper liberal, free-market approach!

Although I don't object to Poles and other Eastern Europeans coming to Britain to earn some money, I do believe that their countries would benefit more in the long term if they stayed there and expanded their own economy.

Immigrant workers are very useful to us and we shouldn't turn them away. We take many pharmacists for Eastern Europe, for example, which is great all round because we need more pharmacists and they don't have as many job opportunities in their own countries.

Ask yourself why are there so many jobs available in Britain? It's because Brits don't take them, because many Brits would rather sit on their arses all day and live on benefits. Without this lazy attitude, many Eastern Europeans wouldn't come here because there wouldn't be the job opportunites for them here.

It's probably ok at the moment when unemployment levels are fairly high but when the country hits a period of recession, it will hit home then.

During recession, the value of jobs slides and people are normally forced to pick up any jobs at all. Of course, these poorer jobs are now taken by the Poles, so they won't be available when UK citizens require them.

This country is too easy for immigrants to get into, take the work on offer. The government needs to tighten up.

Nope; the unemployment rate in this country is currently fairly good. Compared to about a decade ago, or some other European countries currently - we're doing really well.

I don't think so, I think it's down to our school system and employers being too damn picky. Many Poles are better qualified than typical UK people but still take the low paid jobs that the local population won't even apply for.

Part of my job is recruitment and it is very difficult to employ British workers, so we rely on overseas staff.

Overseas staff are only doing the jobs that the Brits will not do.

If it is, this should be a wake up call for british builders, because now we have reliable builders, who show up on time, take pride in their work and dont rape us of money. Here here!
