I have a tattoo on my lower back that i had done 3 years ago...... it really hurt!! it took 1 and a half hours to complete and i cried all the way through it! But it was all worth it i love it so much!

But i really do think it depends on your pain threshold i have a back problem so i don't think that helped! my friend has a tattoo in the same place and it didn't hurt her at all!

It is really dependant on your pain threshold but in general tattoo's do hurt.
I have two on my lower back and yes it hurt although after a while i stopped feeling it.
It also depends where on the lower back as in whether you are tattooing across the spine or around your hips, as areas have different sensitivity and also areas that have not much bone underneath the artist generally has to push harder to get the ink to take.
So there are quite a few variants to take into consideration but hell if thats where you want it then get it there as it's your body and besides once it is done you kinda forget the pain anyway.

Hate to say it, but it does. Its bareable though and it depends how much tolerance you have to pain. When it goes over your spine, its a killer it makes you shudder and yes it hurts. Dont believe what they say about it numbs you cause until lthey are finished with the outline of what your getting it still hurts the fresh skin.
So basically if you have a high tolerance to pain go for it.
The lower back area is the third most painful tattoo to get.

tatto's hurt like the dickens, no matter where you have them done. Remember, you can never get rid of one, unless you have serious surgery, so make sure you want the thing to be there the rest of your life. There are many reasons a person wants a tattoo, so again be sure you really intend of be the same person in another few years, or will you be sorry you had it, in the first place?

I have quite a large tattoo on my lower back. The guy who did it told me it was one of the most painful places to have one, so imagine his surprise when i spent the entire time textin my mates while he was working. He was gob smacked to say the least! Kept saying he couldnt believe it wasnt bothering me! So to answer your question it depends on your pain threshold & by the way i love mine!

yeah any tat. hurts mainly the ones that hurt the most are the ones that are close to a bone. i only have one tat. is on my tricep so no bone close to that and still a little pain but you should be ok depending on how big you want it and how much on your spine.
