My first trip to South Africa to meet my then penpal of almost 25 years. The western Cape, Cape Town, Table Mountain, Knysna , George, the interior drives to Ladismith were just incredible. I went not knowing what to expect and fell in love with the whole country.
The people I met through my friends were open and generous and when they saw my maple leaf emblem on my luggage or on the pins I gave away they were totally touched. I learned things Canada had done for South Africa we 'd never been told about at home.
It made me realize how much Canada and South Africa were alike in many ways moreso than how we were different.

My best vacation was when I went to Japan for the first time, a couple of years ago. I wanted to go there so much and it was like a dream come true!

my best vacation is when i visited lubang island...philippines. where i scoop in my hand an orange tiny fish...oh god what an experience. and watch stars at night and ate a sumptous meal of lobster, shrimps and a grilled fish. what a meal!

New Zealand, especially the South Island. absolutely stunning everywhere you look.

Mount Everest was the best, and reaching the first 9,000 feet was dramatic.
