an eclipse does not change anything to anything, it is merely the moon hiding the sun for a short while.
there is no more reason to not eat, or throw away food or water "touched" by the shadow of an eclipse, than there is to throw away food that fell in the shadow of a cloud (i.e. food that went through a cloudy day), or to throw away the bottle you were carrying when you walked in the shade of a building, or to throw away the food and water you had in your car while tou drove through the shade of a tunnel.

Idiotic superstitions. The only possible reason for that would be that you wouldn't be able to see someone poisoning your food during an eclipse.

most of all the ancient indian so called superstitions have been found out to bear some scientific reason; so getting prejuced that this notion of avoiding eatables that have been exposed to an eclipse bear no basis should not be adopted, rather a more broad view that probably the western science is yet to discover more about the forces of nature can be adopted.

There are so many superstition things in India. It has no scientific reason behind it. So thinking that it also has some scientific reason is really stupid.
