I currently live in the US and am looking to move to Europe, probably London or somewhere in the general area. I have a friend that lives near Oxford who has told me somethings, but I was wondering if somebody who has actually moved abroad could tell me more about what it's like. How difficult is it? How receptive are the people? How easy/hard was it to find work, a place to live? Just any kind of info that you think would be helpful, or anything you would've liked to known before you made the move.

I was also curious about apartments. I realize it's expensive, but I'm not too worried about that. I would want to live in a not-too-ghetto area. If somebody could tell me be the "nice" areas of London, and possible point me the direction of a website with apartments in London, that would be awesome. Thanks. ;D

For me it seems that food sometimes could be the problem in a new place. About the people, it is almost the same, because people from all over the world lives here in Europa. If you comfortable only with the US-people you should look for the place with those community. There must be here, somewhere.

London is obscenely expensive and people don't have a very good lifestyle. Everywhere else in Britain is crap. I want to move to Berlin some day. You should check that out.

people glamorize Europe. i lived there for 12 years and the whole place smells like pee. bring a jacket

Britain is especially crappy. my family stays there. i wasn't fond of the food, it was very greasy. and it just rained and rained. also it smelled like cow manure instead of urine.
