We cannot live without illusions. There are illusions of power, there are illusions of the beginning and the end of the world, and then there are illusions of happiness that we attach to material possessions. Illusions govern our world of reality. We see our world as an endless existence uniformly stretched around us, and including us, just because we are able to see beyond the grasp of our physical senses.

If the concept of God is an illusion then it is the most powerful one - a supper reality, whereas the illusions of wealth and power are mundane and subsequently generated. If we then choose to restrain our view, or our reach, to the world that has mere material value and physical definition, then we will be attempting to deny the best in our own existence.

We do not have to choose between things that have different status in the order of existence because once we understand correct relations between things we can prioritise our preferences.

If you are Catholic, you should choose the gold and give it to the church, which is the richest organization in the world. And that is AFTER they paid out all those damages for the pedophilia they condone.

People who are only looking for Gold will find it. The life you desire must meet your needs, but money and God cannot be found in the same places. I believe the world is bountiful, and there is enough for everyone. I think that to give something back and to support the needy is the duty of all God-loving capitalists.

No... Those take the God and leave the gold, it is only God that can give you Gold, but Gold Can't give you God.
Let me give you a small example. When Palestine take God and leave Gold and their live in their ongoing war against Israeli and Israeli take Gold and forget about God, up to now Israeli did not achieve what their want to ac hive and God continue helping Palestine.

If its a choice between riches and God you must choose God.

There is no choice between gold and God. The choice here is between God's gold and earthly riches and goods.

In Rev. 3:18 - the Lord Jesus says: " I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich....." This counsel was given nearly 2,000 years ago for this very day. The Lord is speaking to all churches and members who claim His name.

It is prophecy fulfilled because the Lord looks forward to the church of this hour and in His eyes finds them poor, naked, blind, neither hot nor cold, wretched, miserable and thinking they "have it all."

In other words, not to much different than what the atheists have been saying on My Q&A.

I would counsel all Christians to read Rev. 3 verses 14 through 22 because that is the situation right now and Christ is shown outside of the churches and outside the hearts of those who proclaim His name.

The option is God's gold or nothing. Of those who are luke warm He says -- "I will spew thee out of my mouth."

If you want to play choice games - there it is.

The choice between God and money comes from Jesus' teaching to his followers:

"No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money"

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and theives break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy and where theives do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also"

This is because, once a person has become a follower of Jesus, they have eternal life and a new personal relationship with God. Their love will then be for God and eternal things, not for the things of this life. Money (or wealth) is a key to this life but has no value eternally. Jesus taught his followers this so that they would not fall back into loving this life, instead of loving God.

It is very important to stress that this teaching is only for those who have become Jesus' followers (that is, only those who have repented of their sin, trusted that Jesus died to save them from judgement and have thereby received God's forgiveness and free gift of eternal life). A person must be a Christian before this teaching has any benefit.

There is no wrong in a follower of Jesus actually possessing money, even to the point of being wealthy (many wealthy Christians use their money to do much good and the Bible teaches wealthy disciples how to use their money best), but there is wrong in loving that money before God.

The love of money is a sure indication that a person does not love God, or has lost much of their love for him.

Many wealthy people refuse to receive eternal life by becoming Jesus' followers because they love their wealth too much.

No, but you do have to set your priorities. Every thing you have comes from God, eventually God gives it to someone else. The only thing that remains is what you did for or against God in the time God gave you.

Jesus taught, "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

That doesn't mean it's wrong to have money -- but the question is, "What motivates you? What do you live for?" Or, as Bob Dylan once sang, "You gotta serve somebody. It may be the Lord, or it may be the devil, but you gotta serve somebody."
