Yes you need to pick the place up. Put away things that are in the wrong place. Hot spots like tabletops can be cleaned, but if they are cluttered the cleaning people will not know what to do with the clutter. Same goes for clothing in the bedrooms, it goes in the closet, in the dresser or in the hamper for cleaning, not in the four corners of your room. Just exaggerating for point.

Just leave out a nice cold pitcher of sweet tea and some Moon Pies and give them an extra tip for the day. The sugar buzz will keep them confused, and the money will remind them to come back.

I would pick up any clutter that gets in the way of their cleaning. They don't necessarily know where stuff goes and so it is better that you do it.

I would have to. It's my mother's fault. She wouldn't like a stranger coming in to clean my dirty house.

So you don't scare them off?
