For the first time ever I sang in a live band last night and it was not what I expected, It was actually quite difficult, I had a hard time hearing myself and remembering the words and also singing along with the music, Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to make this better or how to make this a little easier for me ????

I'm excited for you. You are starting on a path that will bring you some great moments. But the true greats in music realize that stage performance, especially starting out, is a small part of music. If you want to excel on the stage, put in the hours behind the scenes. The people that make it look natural have screamed until their tonsils bled (but in private)

Pick your favorite vocalist, and listen to the c.d. until you've memorized every lyric. Now sing along with each song until you can hit every note perfectly, including inflection, vibrato, and all those nuances that make a singer great. When the c.d. becomes mind-numbingly boring, you are beginning to understand the price that the greats pay for their "natural" talent. I guarantee when you get done with this exercise, your next time on stage will be a huge success.

Practice a lot. Make sure to gain confidence while singing. Bands are loud and some female singers have problems with that... So just practice and don't be discouraged. And drink a glass of beer before. It's amazing, it helps your range (a little, but still).

I sang in a band many years ago, and I always focused on the other band members and just tried to get into the music. Until you loosen up, don't focus on the audience.

try to practice the songs you're going to sing the day before the gig so that you will not have trouble in remembering the words. and also practice the songs you're going to sing with accompaniment so that you can sing along with the tune really well.

uhm what you pick is a physically powerful diaprahgm to assist your severe notes. optimal rockers use their headvoice to understand severe notes. in case you pick to strengthen your diaprahgm I recommend doing warmups. I have my very personal warmups. Get a small straw and breathe in as complicated as you could. carry the air for 10 seconds and blow the air out for 10 seconds contained in direction of the straw. keep doing this for 5 minutes right this moment an afternoon. through a month I gaurantee you'll see outcomes =)
