Exercise is definitely a good tool.
Don't pack too much into your life, and make sure you have a good support group and seek positive emotional support from them.
Take some time out for yourself to meditate, but if that's not your thing, just to relax and not think about anything for 10 minutes every day.
Look at how you're thinking about things. Are you blowing things out of proportion, can you put a different swing on things?
Define the problem, generate alternative solutions, weigh alternatives, select from the alternatives, implementing the chosen solution...
Avoid using drugs and alcohol. Vent anger constructively (exercise also helps with this).

I am very stressed out at the mo, i take kalms herbal remedy pills, excercise and meditate. You need to work out what is causing your stress and try do something about it. I write a daily diary to track my progress, this is good because you can see when positive things have happened and it gives you a bit of a boost. You can also see which areas of your life are causing the most trouble, it sounds obvious but its amazing what we can ignore without realising. Dont struggle on alone for to long get some professional help if it continues, my counsellor has been invaluable.

as you will see from the plethora of answers, there are lots of ways, and very often it depends on the cause of your stress. Stress and/or anxiety is most often psychological in cause, but is manifested physically. As such, addressing one without addressing the other is often only partially useful.
generally speaking, I would recommend the following:
* Physical:
- Breathing; try this simple exercise when stressed... Breath in four seconds, hold breath for four seconds, breath out four seconds, then hold breath for four seconds...repeat. (can be useful when combined with meditation, see below)
- Exercise; start off gently, particularly if you are not fit. Exercise releases endorphines which have a positive effect in relieving stress.
- Medication; only under medication supervision, and if your stress/anxiety is prolonged and serious... see your GP
* Psychological
- Talking; either in the form or counselling or chatting with a close friend, can often be very cathartic, and help determine the causes and triggers of your stress.
- Meditation; the power of positive or relaxing thoughts cannot be understated. There are many great websites that contain instructions and music to help you meditate, so check them out. Combined with good breathing technique, meditation is one great way to relieve stress and inspire you in your day.
* Behavioural
- Slowly and carefully, in a controlled manner, exposing yourself to those things that stress you help to reduce the anxiety you feel when confronted with those things in the future.
I hope this helps! And please... don't wait too long to seek help.

I beat stress by exercise - they're nothing like it! You will really benefit from it, as tired as you might be sometimes. Just going for a walk will calm you down!

since my husband of thirty five years died two years ago, I am stressed also now that I am head of the house, what helps me is to watch a comedy, it makes you laugh alot. also keeping busy also helps, being around friends and most of all, prayer helps me. I talk to Jehovah God and Jesus Christ all the time.
