Easy. Since no salesman should EVER randomly knock on a stranger's door and annoy someone that was minding his/her own business in his/her own home, you should know because you have been invited by someone. Generally, it is safe to assume that the person inviting you is the host or hostess. Since you already know the person's name (from when you made the appointment), you merely introduce yourself and the host/ess will identify his/herself by name.
