It wasn't enough for the media and back benchers to force Thatcher out in 1990, and then for John Major to resign in his put up or shut-up campaign, Iain Duncan Smith to be replaced by Michael Howard, Charles Kennedy to resign and go into hiding and now Tony Blair is facing the same situation.

Isn't it time the media were given some of their own treatment?

The media have no direct power, it is the job of the media to report on what is going on in our government - so when they act like a bunch of half-wits, those people who do have some power to act, either the parliamentary party involved can invoke whatever leadership contest, or the House of Commons can take a vote of no confidence in the government of the day, to ensure that we, the public are protected from idiotic or megalomaniacal leaders.
