No. It means literally what it means. When u traveling, u see new things, new places, meet new people. That should broaden your mind and experiences.

Travel exposes you to different ways of doing things and different ways of thinking. It can expose you to completely new experiences. It gives your mind more tools for dealing with whatever problems you encounter at home.

Travel doesn't just broaden individual minds. It can broaden the thinking of an entire culture. Europe was changed by contact with China and the Middle East, and vice versa.

That's the best-case scenario, of course. Travel can also lead to nothing more than an expensive sunburn and a bag of over-priced souvenirs.

I am not sure if it is slang or not but as to the interpretation. My slant is that when you travel you are exposing yourself to an assortment of possibilities: cultures, foods, languages, airports circumstances, and sometimes just opening yourself up to just plain being lost. All of this stretches yourself as a person and allows you to grow perhaps differently as a person from these experiences.

Experiencing other cultures makes you aware of so much more than isolating youself.

Traveling helps me appreciate what I have, and value the friendships I have made.
