Sound is a wave which is produced from any kind of vibration.
Whether the vibration takes place at sub-atomic level or macroscopic level, sound is always produced. The frequency of sound depends upon the energy of the wave which inturn depends upon the energy of source which inturn depends on the frequncy of vibration of source .So, higher the freuency of vibration of source, higher is the frequency of sound wave produced. And IF this frequecy is higher than 20000 Hz then, its called ULTRASOUND.

You need to onstruct an oscillator circuit which frequency is above 20KHz.Connect a small speaker and you are done. But you will not hear anything. You need a frequency counter or oscilloscope to verify it.You can purchase a ultra sound transmitter and receiver hobby kit at Sim Lim Square electronic store.
