How can this possibly be a good workout? Does it require any special clothing? Should I refuel afterward with any sports drink?

saw a great rider mower a while back, an old fashioned push mower attached to the front forks of a bicycle! LOL

Wear jeans, tennis shoes (to protect your feet, and a t-shirt. Drink water. And if you have a self-propelled mower you won't get much of a workout because the mower does most of the work. However, if you don't then you will get a pretty good workout. You will be walking back and forth wall pushing a heavy object that offers resistance. Also you will be turning and "manhandleing" the mower around objects etc. The first time I did it my arms were sore. Also, your legs should be used in the pushing rather than your back. You burn about 385 calories per hour of mowing the lawn. Good luck

I stay in shape by walking behind a lawn mower on a regular basis. It does not require special clothing but do not wear open toed shoes and dress comfortably for the weather. Yes, keep drinking liquids especially if it is a hot day.

It depends on the size and type of yard you have.

My yard has quite a few hills and is pretty large. After I'm done mowing the lawn I've had quite a workout. Especially on a warm day.

If your mower is a push mower, of course it's a good workout! My mower is self-propelled and it still wears me out to mow my grass. Wear any clothes you want to wear, although you might consider some sunglasses. Drink whatever you want to drink afterwards.

No...just grab the mower and walk. How simple is that? Sounds like you've got one of those common sense type guys.

Of course, you could always jump up and down as you push. Maybe some deep lunges. That would keep the neighbors guessing!

Sounds like hubby doesn't want to mow the lawn. It is good exercise though. Yes replenish your body with gatorade or powerade when you are finished.
