I can tell u about Mcleodgunj & Dharamshala only.

Get down at Pathankot or Chakki Bank stations. If u take Shalimar Express from Delhi , it stops at Pathankot. Pathankot is better than Chakki Bank though the distance is mere 5 kms between the two.

U can take a bus to Dharamshala /Mcleogunj. Mcleodgunj is basically Upper Dharamshala.

U can also look for private car at Pathankot. Many cars ply from nearer Pathankot bus station area. Many times I have travelled in Himachal from Pathankot by cars. It's easier and fast at affordable costs. I had been to Dalhousie, Chamba, Dharamshala, Kajjiar et al by car.

Spend more time in Mcleod since it's very very interesting. U will find many things tibetan there. It's a capital of Dalai Lama's sect. There r several interesting sites in and around Mcleod.

We visited Dharamshala, Dalhousie, Palampur 3 years back .You get down at Chakki Bank Stn. You can even catch a Troy Train from Pathakot to Joginder Nagar.

All those places are the on the highway from Pathankot to Manali. You go to Pathankot and then start onwards travel upto MAnali and come down at Chandigah. In Dharamshala do not stay at Mcleodgang. Stay at Hotel Dhauladhar. We spend one day at Palampur at Hotel T Bud for HPTDC and we hace fallen in love with Hotel and food served there and of Palampur. Dalhousie you find out hotels near Gandhi Square. Best way is to hire a car from Pathankot.

frm delhi go to Pathankot. lots of transport awailable to Dharamsala. Allot more time for Manali, though now it is more crowded. on my 1st visit it was lovely, now lots of construction has taken place. visit Vashist bath(hotspring), rohtang pass etc. the view is very good on way to Rohtang pass. You can also visit Lahol & Spiti if u have time.
