I saw a show just this morning on HGTV.com called Room by Room hosted by Matt Fox and Sherry Hiller and they were painting formica counter tops to look like marble. I did not see what they were using because I just had my kitchen re-done and isn't need it, but log on to hgtv.com and look for that program on today's segment and it will tell you. Good luck.

I don't think I would even try to paint formica. It will be hard to get the paint to adhere to the formica, and it will tend to flake off too easily in everyday use. You might be able to find a laminate toping that looks like granite you can apply over your existinf countertop.

I've just been searching the net for instructions on this exact topic and have come up with a number of results. This one sounds quite easy, its on Wnetwork, here is the link

A neighbour of mine just did this to her counters and it looks great, beats the peach/salmon colour that she had before.
Good luck!
