Because the world is round, rainbows must be round.
Besides, if they were any other shape, what would we call 'em?

what we r seeing is only a part of a round... actually rainbows are round...as sun rays penetrate thru the rain clouds (which acts as a prism) the rainbow generates in circular form. may be from a rocket we can see that..

the rainbow is the visual effect of vapor rising from the earth surface reflecting in the sun and he earth is round, hence the arc.

Rainbow is actually round.I happen to see it from aeroplane.
