Perhaps by narrowing down the type of love in which you speak would make defining a bit easier.
The Bible speaks of the characteristics of love being: love is very patient and kind, never jealous or envious, never boastful or proud, never haughty or selfish or rude. Love does not demand its own way. It is not irritable or touchy. It does not hold grudges and will hardly even notice when others do it wrong. It is never glad about injustice, but rejoices whenever truth wins out. If you love someone you will be loyal to him no matter what the cost. You will always believe in him, always expect the best of him and always stand your ground in defending him.
Love can be a feeling but true love is more than a feeling. Feelings can change so the stronghold must be a commitment to love. I have always chosen love to be a verb in my life and when I love the people in my life it is always around action of what is highest and good. Do I always succeed, nope but I am more content because I always come back to trying.

That is because it is a feeling. Being is love is like walking on clouds. The whole world suddenly seems brighter and there isn't a care in the world. When you love someone you put them first and you do things to make them happy.

People use the word in all sorts of ways - sometimes it just means 'lust' or 'desire'; sometimes it means 'I like that (person or thing) a lot'. In its purest sense, to me 'to love' a person means to like them, value and enjoy their company, and care deeply about their welfare. Physical love or desire is a different thing, but the two can go together, of course.
