Good question, Israel is in Asia, so why is it not playing in the Asian tournaments?!
Answer is simple, Asian countries will not compete with/ against Israel, because it is considered an illegal state. Europe on the other hand pity Israel and allowed it to compete in its continental tournaments.

You could indeed ask the same question about Russia, whose borders span the majority of Asia. How come Israel are in the Eurovision song contest? Ditto Lebanon? Europe is an ever-expanding notion of a group of nation states that has continually got bigger since the fall of the Soviet Union. Who knows where it will stop, but being tied down to a geographical understanding of Europe is wrong: Europe is just the rich Western part of the massive continent of Asia.

I know exactly what you mean. It's not a question of race or what's going on there. Get a grip people and stop political correctness blind you of the obvious. It is a question of geography. Since when has Israel been a part of the Continent that is known as Europe? Are they not a member of the continent that is known as Asia, in the block known as the Middle East?
It has nothing to do with "having something against them" people. It's GEOGRAPHY.

witchfromoz2003 has obviously missed a few geography lessons. The question is not asked for any religious reasons but from a geography point of view...The same could be said of teams to the east of turkey as this has generally been taken as the dividing line between Europe and Asia.
It is, as was hinted at already, a recent intervention by FIFA and UEFA to prevent riots at games in the middle east.

Israel used to be in the Asian football and basketball tournaments, until Israel kept winning titles and the Arab teams kept refusing to play Israel.

They are in UEFA along with some other non European Geographic countries, so the Country and the clubs get to enter any UEFA competition.

Interesting. Maybe because they have no competition of thier own. Maybe something to do with amounts of teams allowed from each country. Who knows? I want to know.
Another question I'd like to know the answer to is, why are Liverpool the best English team in Europe and why are Man utd a pile of crap?

I think they should be barred from all sporting events for human rights abuses and war crimes
Look at a map Syria and Lebanon are closer to Europe than Isreal, so are Morocco, Algeria, Libya and Tunisia

sernityredflower you're not making much sense. wouldn't be politically correct to say it WAS because of geography when it's clearly not? it's to do with a) the fact that a lot of arab states don't recognise israel and refuse to play and b) to make up the numbers

Don't know, they want to be part of Europe but act like barbarians in the name of Democracy. I suggest that UEFA boot them out until they let the Palestinians have there teams play in Europe without fear of Bombing and Killing. Double Standards
