Why are American so full of themselves?? And fat?

Have you ever eaten in a good restaurant in the states? The food is awsome!!! How could you say no? Deserts, steaks, lobster, basically everything you ever dreamed of. If they had that stuff over here in my third world country I'm sure everyone here would be fat also.

Not all Americans are full of themselves, but they have to make an effort not to be. I grew up there and the schools pretty much brainwash people into believeing their country is the best, no questions asked. All this obsession with the fact it's a free country, you'd think it was the only free country in the world. I think it's creepy that kids are made to stand up and pledge allegience to the flag every day at school, but when it's tradition no one really questions it.

Americans aren't exposed to much information about other great developed nations like the UK, Australia, Canada etc, and how they work. Not all Yanks realise that their health care system is, in comparison to all those places, truly awful. I live in the UK and never have to worry that I'll suffer financially for being ill, but to Americans this is perfectly normal and they don't all realise they're the only ones with that sort of system.

Also many Americans I know were absolutely shocked to learn that I get 25 days holiday a year at my job, and a permanent contract, because in the state they live in they have no employee rights like these.

So they aren't complaining about the things their country does wrong (and there's a fair few) because they don't always realise it's not like that anywhere else. And then the American govt, media etc brainwashes people into believing it's the greatest country in the world, no questions asked, and that's where the arrogance comes from.

I don't think they're all like this, I really don't- but if you grow up not questioning authority and believeing all you are told (and plenty of people all over the world are like this), you can easily fall into that trap living in the USA.

And they're fat because the food in restaurants is sickeningly rich, fattening and served in huge portions, but it tastes damn good and is affordable! If I lived there I would be huge, so I'm not going to judge them for that!

Not all Americans are like that and not all of them are fat and if they are full of themselves and they are fat so what, its there life and there country and they can do what the heck they want to do, stop been so assuming and racist.

They are full of themselves because they have a free society that allows even people like you to have their say.

And they are fat because capitalism works. While most of the world can't feed itself through laziness, corruption and backwardness, America is a little too successful in this regard.

You may as well ask why many Africans are poor, illiterate and starving. Or why most Russians live in poverty. Or why Indians **** in the street. You won't like those answers either.

Do I detect a little jealousy there ? Ever been to the United States?
Don't believe what you read in your newspapers until you travel here and meet some people over here.
There are many types of people here,all nationalities,colors ,and ethnic heritages.We have a welcome mat for everyone,and help other countries when they are in need.
Yes there are fat people here,which I am sure there are where you live also. i have been overseas also,and it is a good experience to see different parts of the world ,why don't you try it ?

Luckily for them, they live in a very liberal, democratic society and they have a rich country - with good natural resources such as oil and the ability to grow crops etc. This gives them immense security and that leads to self-confidence which sadly also leads to self-importance, cockiness etc. They also get fat because they can afford to eat - but their lifestyles often mean that they eat "wrong" or just too much

Americans are fat because they love to eat on fast foods, what they sell on fast foods are not healthy! It's better to eat lots and lots of rice rather than burger, fries, chicken and softdring COKE, PEPSI, its all the same thing.. Please try watching Super Size Me! You will learn a lot!

I know, they are so ignorat and arrogant. The reason they are so fat, is because their portions are huge. Every restaraunt I went to when I was there, the servings were so big, I made like 3 meals out of them
