The reason why it is cheaper is
a) They have to drop the price because Dell, HP, IBM, MDG have done so
b) I believe they use an AMD processor, not INTEL
c) Designed and made in the Orient
"Reliability" is a matter of luck: You can be OK in 95% of cases, but if you are unlucky, you can get the odd dog. Look, I bought a brand-new, original IBM laptop, and a few months later the hard drive was dead!

Acer is a decent enough brand and relatively very good value for money. If you are brand concious stick with the Dells and Sonys if not Asus or Acer. They are able to do the job. The same may not apply to refurbished or second hand laptops.

stear clear if you want a good reliable laptop go for packard bell or i actually prefer hp for reliability and style ect has good processor and graphics card in the hp ones and they are not really that much dearer.the acer is about £299 and you can get a hp one from around £349 upwards staples have a top of the range one for £449 so its worth paying alittle extra for reliability. what you should do is just go round to all the shops check out what memory they have what hard drives ect and remember if it only has a 20 gb hard drive it isnt going to store a great deal.

A friend of mine had an ACER, the HDD died after about 30 minutes use.
That machine was replaced by the supplier and has since been no trouble at all in the last 8 months or so.
As to the manufacturer not repairing/replacing, that has nothing to do with anything, any contract you have is with the shop you purchase any item from and they should not try to fob you off to the manufacturer

Absolutely STEER CLEAR!!
My partner has an Acer laptop.
Keyboard has been a problem since the outset.
It has been 'fixed' - but the problem is still there and Acer refuse to do anything; they don't even answer calls anymore. So, stuck with a faulty laptop that has NEVER worked properly and they refuse to do anything.

ACER was bought over a few years ago by I think HP (Hewlet Packard). The keep the brand name as a budget range. It's typically what an HP would have been 18 months ago in spec.
OK for light use as the cases can be a bit shoddy.

Yes Acer is a good brand. It may seems that it has 2nd class components so it is low cost but other populer brand like lenovo, apple is also being damaged within there warranty period though they are costlier. I am using Acer laptop, and it is working fine.

My kids have had ACER laptops for 12 months and 6 months respectively with no problems. Overall, pretty good value for money I think.

it truly is actual truly not straightforward to respond to that question. in case you go searching, you'll truly be in a position to discover $400 - $500 laptops, maximum of that are fantastically reliable. for sure they received't be as strong because the more desirable severe priced laptops, yet they might want to adventure your desires. yet pay interest to the different effective aspects you want in a operating laptop or computer. lower priced laptops probably may have undesirable battery existence and a gradual processor. when you're pleased with both one of those products, then i might want to spring for an extremely low-end HP or Toshiba computer. the only kind i might want to stay remote from is Asus, as i have had undesirable thoughts with Asus laptops contained in the present previous. when you're basically searching for gentle artwork, then you definately might want to evaluate a netbook. yet before you get a netbook, bypass and take a careful seem at them, as maximum netbooks have small 10 inch reflects and unusual keyboards. in my view, i'd not bypass for a netbook, and that i might want to discover a cheap computer. when you're searching for something new, the iPad's popping out in a month or 2, and is starting up at $500.
