I had period like pains for ages, I also experienced spotting at the time my period would have been due. The pain and spotting are very common and often nothing to worry about.

I didn't feel any different around the time my period was due, but i knew i was pregnant about a week after conception because my boobs were really painful to touch, much more than the usual breast tenderness you get when your period's due

Each woman is different but some can still experience cramps and some spot a little bit but if unsure always ask your midwife.
