Its all that soapy stuff they put in keeps the bubbles clean

Its because the bubble material is stretched so thin on the bubble that it appears clear and white. Also, most of the color drains out of the bubble and stays in the water. If you look closely your water may be a slight color of the bubble bath.

When you look at the outside of the bubble, it's acting like a little mirror, because it's got a dark background. So all you're seeing is reflections of the room lights or the house lights or the sunlight - which are usually white in colour.

But supposedly you can get colored bubbles, I'd like to know where I can get some.

I use food dye instead of bubble bath then put **** loads of fairy liquid in the bath th make the bubbles. when you do this the bubbles turn the colour of the food dye. trouble is though when you get in the bath it will dye your skin and it wont come off for days. i got a week off school for my rare blue skin condition.

Really good question - never thought of that before despite using loads of the stuff.

Will definitely have to try the stuff with the coloured bubbles now that I know about it thought.

Not true. I have a Matey colour-changing bubble bath. Bubbles are well cool!

Actually, the bubbles are clear(transparent). They refract(like a crystal) the light and appear to be white. The same holds true for Polar Bears, which in fact are black with translucent hair that refracts the sunlight.

reminds me of my godchildren (twins, boy/girl) who asked when I was giving them a bath if they could each have their own colour bubbles out of their pink and blue bubble bath bottles.
hmm.
I looked very clever explaining that that wasn't possible...
why? why? why?
Standard adult answer - because it's not. . the end.
