My PC's an Acer Veriton 2800. The last I used it, there was crackling sound at the back of the casing, then the monitor and all lights went off. I switched off the main switch, turn it on and that tripped off the house's main circuit breaker. Power supply to my bedrooms were cut off. I changed the power cord of the PC, still the same, the PC won't turn on now. To my best of my technical knowledge, this has to be the PSU's fuse is blown - but by a single loose power cord ? Or maybe there are other reasons to this ?

Your power supply has died. My power supply made that same crackling sound 10 minutes before it died. Hopefully you didnt do any damage to the motherboard or other internal parts by trying it after it died. When you suspect a power supply going bad, get a new one asap... a bad power supply can ruin other internal parts.

here are a couple power supplies that will have you up and running in no time for a great price.

I can give you some "VERY GOOD" advise. Have it checked out, before you burn the place down! Anything that trips the main circuit breaker has a serious short in it, and is apt to catch on fire. Do Not try to even plug this thing up into the wall outlet, or you might not be so lucky. If you are touching the thing that is shorted out when the breaker is reset, it could "KILL" you!! Find someone that knows about this problem, and how to deal with it in a safe manner. Do Not, take chances with this thing!! Good Luck.

If this pump did artwork interior an analogous outlet with an analogous breaker before and now it no longer works then the area ought to be contained in the pump "except" something else replaced into further to that breaker causing the overload. you may want to turn off the breaker to make certain what is going out. bypass round and turn all of it off then turn the breaker back on. Now try the pump if it nevertheless journeys the breaker then it truly is not the breaker circuit that's with the pump itself.

The PSU, u need to realise that the PSU works the hardest inside a computer... It constantly steps down 220V in SA or 110V in the US, to 12 V as no other component in your Case can handle more than twelve, everytime you boot up your machine you PSU will work the hardest, and even harder when u play games ect.... hope that answers you question.....

Faizal your assumption is correct. The PSU has gone, kaput, dead. Only thing you can do is replace the PSU mate and should be fine. PSU does not have it own fuse but the plug of PSU has. Good luck

I am wondering Faizal how did you ask this question if your PC is down

Yeah, I've had them die for no reason at all. At least you've got a logical explanation!
