Why would a work of fiction change anyone's beliefs in any direction? It's like asking if the movie "Passions of the Christ" made you believe in Christianity if you weren't.

Did "Star Wars" make you believe in aliens? or "The Last Starfighter" make you think video games were a test to see if you had what it takes to save the universe?

Oy...

Not at all--my beliefs don't hinge on the personal life of Jesus, but on his teachings. After all, he was also the son of man, so why would he not conform to the traditions of man? It was also traditional to wear clothing, and he did that! Anyway, the original authors of the non-fiction book that The Da Vinci Code was based on have admitted that their whole book is based on conjectures--it's theoretically possible that Jesus may have married, it's theoretically possible that his wife was Mary Magdalene, it's theoretically possible that they had children, etc. By the time they're done speculating, there's very little possibility that descendants of Jesus are walking the Earth.

This is a very broad question. Atheism literally means 'without god' and since most human acts of devastation have been in the name of one god or another, this would suggest that they are less harmful than people with a religion. If you think about it in a more abstract way, atheism promotes free thinking and the choice to believe what you want without the hindrance of someone telling you what is correct without any evidence. In this way, many religions actually promote ignorance over knowledge. (The reasoning behind this lays with early society humans trying to form a manageable society that functions well together. Religion is a very effective way to do this, hence why there are so many similarities between them). So depending on what you mean by harm, in early human society atheism could have been more detrimental to the progression of the human race but in recent times (the last 150 years or so) religion is losing its place in modern society.

I have not seen the movie or read the book, but even if I did, it would not change my opinions or beliefs.

I realize that it's a work of fiction, using Catholicism/Christianity as a central part of the story. There have been a lot of other fictitious movies that use religion, and sometimes very undignifying. So this really is nothing new.

the facts said in the movie "Da Vinci Code " might be true but it is not evident enough to change the beliefs of us and we still believe that our ancestors are right .

The ideas of the "Da Vinci Code" are not new, just the advertisement is better.

Why would the lies of an atheist change my opinion of Christianity? It's about like asking if the unimaginative fiction produced by Michael Moore could change my political thinking.

No. It is a well written novel but it includes too many assumptions and false premises to be believable to me.

If reading ridiculous anti-Christian arguments could cause me to change my Christian beliefs, Yahoo Answers would have caused me to become an Athirst by now.

yeah a little - strengthened them more. how people could get so worked up over fiction expecially due the fact - davinci didn't live in the time of Jesus and thusly the painting of the Last Supper was a painting -- HIS rendition - it was NOT a snapshot of the reality of the event.
it never ceases to amaze me - the gullability of people.
