Playtex tampons used to be available in Boots. Tampax are the wrong shape and no good as a substitute. The only place I've been able to find Playtex is on an online site for ex-pats, and the postage is expensive. I even wrote to Playtex using the address on their box, and got no reply.

Well, coincidentally on the same day I set this question, I finally received a written reply from Playtex themselves. It turns out Boots have withdrawn them but larger Tesco stores (and online Tesco, but I personally wouldn't use them after several customer service fiascos). Playtex also have their own website where you can buy direct from them: http://www.infantcaredirect.co.uk/. Not easy to find - I did extensive searching on the net before setting this question. They also do mail order if you ring them up, but I don't have the letter on me so can't tell you the number I'm afraid. Thanks for all the replies. Am very curious as to what the scandal was now.

(I meant to say that larger Tesco stores and online Tesco do stock them)
