It seems from the outside looking in that everybody is a Muslim's enemy. The destruction of the Infidel, appears to be only a distraction from killing each other because it is nearly as bad to be of the wrong sect of Islam as it is to be an Infidel. Add to that the honor and revenge killings for the smallest slights. Is there anybody that they don't hate?
That is what the Muslim world looks like from the outside to many. There seems to be nothing comming out of the Islamic leadership to educate us otherwise.

Only when they realise that the two main enemies are the US and islamic fundementals. Considering that some of the muslim countries have friendly and military relationship with US.....and those who oppose US are breeding Islamic fundementalists, I don't think they will ever be united. First the fundamental issue of whether there should be separation of religion and state must be resolved. Iraq's Ayatollah Sistani and Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei have major disagreements.

If Iraq's Shiite Ayatollah Ali Sistani, [who was raised and educated in Iran and subsequently moved to Najaf, Iraq to finish his studies with Grand Ayatollah Abul-Qassim Khoe] cannot even agree with Iran's Shiite Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on matters of wilayat al-faqih (leadership of the supreme jurisprudent) and be recognized as marja-yi taqlid (emulation of jurisprudent), then how could anyone expect the Shiites and Sunni to agree?

After the issue of separation of religion and state is resolved, then a Shiite caliphate can be formed. It is less clear how Sunni factions could coalesc and merge or merge with Shiite.

Only when the Mahdi appears will there be unification.

they can never. shias dont agree with sunnis. kill each other. no agreement on any subject among muslims except personal law, and that too the number of wives. in modern times power does nto flow either from the horse back or sword. it comes from computers, head and the pen. there is a decided dislike for these among muslim societies.
