I'm writing an article on the major historical sights in Egypt. I have enough information on the major Islamic monuments like Al Azhar Mosque and others, but I really need help discovering more major Christian historical churches and important places. I already know about The St. Marcos Church in Alexandria and St. Catherine's Monastery.

the most important church in Egypt calls Sergious, it was built upon the cave where virgin Mary and her son spent 6 months to hide from the Romans, this church is the holiest one for all the Egyptians Muslims and Christians.
there is also the holy tree in Matria -Cairo- where the holy family had rest under it, and it is still green till now.
also Mariam monastery in Asuit, the holy family spent there a long time.

The Coptic church is the major Christian church in Egypt. There are many sites in Cairo and upper Egypt, as Christainity was the main religion in Egypt until the Muslim invasion. So their ruins are pretty ancient. Many monuments are in desert monasterys. Try Coptic web sites for details.MAny places are indisrepair because it is very difficult to get work permits for Christian places from therir Muslim local governments.

I know that Sugahe has christian temples. I would like to add that the very first Christan church was build in Egypt in Alexandra. The Coptic christian religion comes from Egyptian. Yes Muslims and Christians can and do life in one country under one government.

probable no longer something, basically wanton disrespect of alternative human beings- which isn't a non secular undertaking. it is likewise significant to be conscious that the Egyptians themselves defaced many of their very own monuments. have been given a clean Pharaoh? you should substitute the faces of the countless monuments to reflect that. did no longer like having a female ruler? Why no longer wreck her monuments?
