If someone is having a go at you and being abusive then what is the best thing to say to them? (I know the old saying Just take no notice)
But what I need is a sentence to say to someone and politely tell them to 'go forth'
Any Pschological ways of getting around this?

You might try reverse psychology . If someone calls you a stupid idiot , you could say , "I know. I'm colossally stupid ; what can I do about it "?
Or , just say , "Thank you for pointing that out ". Then leave the room .

Rememer that just because a person is angry does not necessarily mean they are wrong.
Listen to them.
Acknowledge their feelings. Use phrases like, "I understand that this is frustrating you, and I want to help you. Let's take a deep breath and start over, from the top, slowly, ok?"
If you can help them, do it. If you can't, find someone who can. If there is no help for it, explain this.

If you want someone out of your face:

Remain standing
Position your body between person and room, leave route to door clear and say, "I'm sorry I couldn't have been of more help, but you'll have to go now."
If that doesn't work, open door for the person and repeat the end, "You'll have to go now."
Repetition usually works. When the person can elicit no NEW responses, they stop pushing buttons ;-)

If all else fails, call Security or police.

Try talking to them in a calm voice rather than raising your own voive this will show you are still in control. If you are at fault then say sorry my mistake all I can do is appoligse for that.

It is easy to preach but difficult to practice, but one has to stay calm and firmly state that I do not appreciate your behavior and that I do not want to have any altercation with you whatsoever, but do not ever abuse him back as it would give him encouragement to further abuse.Like Buddha said that if someone abuses you and you keep quiet then the abuse stays with him as you have not accepted the gift offered to you!

you should hear him, he might be right, you may have made some mistake, but if it's not your fault, then it's pretty hard to escape. i would suggest telling him it's not your fault, and then walking away from him

"I hear you."

Or "you may be right".
