I don't think either of them should get DLA, it is self inflicted. Why should the tax payer pay for someone who can't exercise a little self control. My partner is disabled as the result of a road traffic accident caused by a drink-driver who was described as an alcoholic. He got a fine and a driving ban, my partner is in a wheelchair. If you can't handle drink, don't do it!

And it is not an illness it is a self inflicted act of selfishness and stupidity, which is the same as drug addiction. Most drug addicts made the decision to take drugs in the first place, why should the rest of us be expected to pay for their stupidity. The only drug addicts I have any sympathy for are those who were forced to take drugs or are addicted to a medication because of treatment for a medical condition that has that type of side effect.

Its been the same for years, the most recovering drug addicts get is incapacity benefit yet with that you need to pay a portion of your rent, prescriptions and dental care, its a joke. it sometimes feels like ud be aswell to go out and get drunk every day then they might help you out. i myself am on incapacity and when i was pregnant with my daughter my upstairs neighbour flooded me ruined everything in my livingroom and what was going to be my daughters room, i applied to social for a loan to help me and was refused because of my benefit, then i was told i wasnt entitled to a sure start maternity grant also because of my benefit yet i have friends on income support who by the way only get £20 less than me and dont need to pay rent or anything that get everything thats going. its a joke, and not a funny one at that
