I would advise a hot water bottle but as you are at work that will be quite difficult. Tell your boss you need to go home and snuggle up in bed!

Try taking a short break and walking around for a few minutes. Sometimes when normal painkillers don't work, a combination does. You could try Aleve and Tylenol. Do not take Aleve(naproxen), ibuprofen, or aspirin together, they are to similar, but any of these can be taken with Tylenol.
At home, try exercise and very warm bath. If this is a frequent problem, talk to your MD about birth control pills. They helped my severe cramping more than anything.

Some will advise going on the pill, but it doesn't work for everyone. It has only lessened the flow a little for me. I have very bad cramps, and only 3 ibuprofen at once can do anything about it. Also, to ease the stomach, use lavender, lemongrass and bergamot 100% essential oils, 5 drops of each in a 10ml grapeseed oil base, and rub onto the stomach and back (if you get back pain)

600 mg of Ibuprofen (advil)
1000 mg of acetamenaphen (tylenol)
Take the advil first give it about 15-20 mins then take the tylenol, these two drugs are processed through different organs in the body so don't interact in any sort of bad way and they cover different pain receptors so will often dramatically reduce almost any type of pain
As far as ovulation pains, the couple of common household remedies are drinking hot water.. flexing your abdominal muscles as hard as you can in 10 times for 10 seconds each time (causes a release of beta-endorphins) and while this may not help at work doctors at both Masters and Johnson and the Kinsey Institute found that the most effective "remedy" for menstrual pain was orgasm.

Try a natural detox before your period, drink lots of water about 2L a day and start a regular exercise regime and improve your diet. This usually helps to lessen the pain.If you still get cramps over the counter pain killers are effective in conjunction with the former advice given

1. 2 x Nurofen work better than paracetamol on this kind of pain.
2. If you get this frequently, I'd try a course of acupuncture (or if you can't take the thought of needles, see a homeopath). They both work well for period pains.

If you have a male boss you don't need to give details, the mention of 'women's problems' will have him putting you in a taxi and sending you home. Once there lie down in a dark room with a hot water bottle and make yourself feel better by cursing all those men who don't understand you
....i thought all women were told this on the day of their first period
