Partial credit, remember that, it sounds like you will be needing that. You sound very innovative, I say this because you seem to not know what the question is, "Define, blah, blah, blah..." I hear this way also and learned that partial credit will take you where you need and want to go.
You are smart and have your own interests so try this... When you start your report start with something like this, "Let me answer the question this way, --- then go on and write about and research anything that interests you. Don't worry about the question, your information will be much more interesting than the question because you are more innovative than the person asking the blah blah blah question.
