Are they really that narrow-mined that they automatically assume that anyone who posts questions is refering to the States, even though on many questions asked there are subtle clues like words being spelt correctly (eg colour), or even blatant references to other countries in the question.

A better question I guess is: Does anyone outside of the USA really care what goes on inside?

They might be considered a "superpower", if that's important in anyway, but really, the world is SO much bigger (and interesting) that just the USA....

Incidentally, to all those yanks who have just pointed out that appatrently, this is on the USA board, they have nicely illustrated the point I was making - the questions are posted internationally - the address in my browser starts: uk.answers......

And no, you didn't invent the internet, it was actually a Brit guy who came up with the concept and set up the first example of what we now know as "the web".

And to that ignorant little girl who said that Muslims write stuff and there is an Indian board for them - well done - I think you'll find that Muslim is a world-wide religion, and in fact there are Seikhs, Hindus Buddhists and Muslims in India, to name a few, so nice illustration again....

Starrwoode - Why did you leave 10K in our Country? Are you dumb?

Levi B - Don't be ridiculous - Everyone one knows that Ford is an American business. I'm sure we are a joke to you - almost as much as you are to us. What was that shite about setting our standards, dog/tail etc. The UK is a Sovereign nation, not a state within the USA, nor is it an annexe of your country.

Out of interest, can any american answer the following questions: When did World War 1 start, and why? When did WW2 start, and why? What is the capital of Australia? How do you pronounce "Leicester" or "Welwyn Garden City"?

I agree with you 100%. I mean, on some of the extra indian channels that we get, the major events in the other countries (including the US) are covered in the news, but our American news only sticks to American stuff (namely gay marriage and Iraq.) And, on the olympics in greece (which was a while ago but w/e), when the ppl were coming out, they just centered the camera on the United States as they were coming out, even though some people wanted to see the country of their origin, and missed it because of our big-headedness. So basically, what I'm saying is it's not limited to Yahoo Answers. It's like, a really big issue that no one cares about b/c the US <333333333's to feel important. Oh, and btw-i love ur username thing. i hate bush with a passion.

I believe the choice is shown the drop down list on your Q&A page. In the UK after choosing International Answers, at the bottom it gives 2 choices on the drop down list:

1. One for the country eg. UK and Ireland
2. Answers in English

The second option above will give all English language answers.

The time of day generally indicates when the USA are online and when we in the UK are online, as it clusters around certain times, so that helps identify.

Given that the USA is somewhat larger than the English speaking nations of Europe, so I would expect more participants from there. For the same reason, they aren't exposed to other world cultures as much as we in Europe are - their goverment limits their exposure in order to keep power and control over them. It is well known worldwide how insular they are. They also have a near monopoly on global communications and the media, so it is up to us as non-US people to keep fighting our way through to "educate" them as much as possible to the real world.

Eventually some of them may develop a broader outlook, we can only hope.

OK, I kinda agree with u. I also get answers from American perspective only... I guess, a great part of people on yahoo answers r Americans. I may be wrong... but sometimes I start feeling like an alien here, sometimes I get irritated, sometimes this narrow-mindedness amuses me...
the major part of those Americans whom I met were presuming that everything in the world should go according to their rules and laws:) and they refused to accept anything that comes out of this limit. I absolutely have nothing against them, though. Just that they look so ridiculous sometimes and don't realize that. Sad.

As regards the flags individuals can see all English language questions from anyplace. My questions are in united kingdom/eire yet that surely restricts the area from which I see questions . Do get American questions about there from time to time ,, besides the undeniable fact that the solutions come from throughout, concern is maximum of the solutions surely keep on with to united states rules, customs etc, and are thoroughly incorrect as regards united kingdom to illustrate .. I have stated before that united states of starting place of the question must be reported ,, to assist both questioner and answerer ,

AHHHH! Its all happening again.

If you want the usa yahoo site go to the bottom of the page and click on your flag.

I am absolutely sick of listening to ignorant americans like fireball talking rubbish and speading their jesus love and muslim hate. Not all americans are ignorant but unfortunately many of those who are seem to gravitate to this website.

Fireball, there are loads of muslims in UK and they can post as much as they want because this is the uk site. If you know anything about history or anything about anything outside of American you would have heard of Mahatma Gandhi and know that muslims are not from india. Ignorance, pure ignorance.

The British are a poor joke, not understanding which is the dog and which is the tail. They are surprised to find that Ford or Kelloggs originate from the States, & drive on the wrong side of the road.
The Americans have the majority in power and numbers, so they might as well set their standards.
The British have been sinking ever since 1945

It's because they think they are sooooooo important!!! But I've also noticed that there are people who are not Americans having the same kind of mentality.

Sadly I think you are right. I have met many US citizens and was left with the overwhelming feeling that because I wasn't into the same things as them I was some sort of third world retard.
