Nah. Computers just put a spellcheck in for the grammar nazis.

Look, it's all contextual. u want 2 take shortcuts wen ur textin or IMing & thats ok. But if you want to communicate effectively, especially in the world of work, you had better know how to spell and punctuate. Right or wrong, you will be judged on your use of written language.

It's all about context, remember? If you post a serious question here that requires an answer from an experienced adult, you had better not write it in Netspeak because a lot of us won't even bother to click on it. The culture of teen gibberish is not "today's world." I tend to dismiss kids who don't have enough self-respect to take the trouble to communicate clearly when they need to. The bottom line? Sometimes it's unimportant. Sometimes it's critical.

I am dyslexic so I know I have a problem with spelling,
nevertheless I do think it is important.
For example if you are applying for a job what does it say about you if you haven't bothered to check the spelling?

There is help these days, most people use PC s with spellcheckers. the problems only arise with confusable like there, their etc.

Not everyone is good at spelling for a variety of reasons, But if like me you are aware of the problem you should be able to deal with it without embarrassment. I don't feel bad about being rubbish at other things so why spelling? !!!

yes, yes it is. I mean whats the point in writing things with numbers in i mean M8.. its just plain lazy and english wouldn't be such an important lesson if spelling didn't matter. Also whats the point in missing one letter out? (BCK) its back... takes a couple of seconds to write a dam letter.

Sorry im not ranting away.

Yes. For one thing, It took me too long to figure out what your question was. For another, do we really want to dumb down our world even more, to the point where people don't even have to learn to spell? Bye bye literacy.

If you don't want to be misunderstood it is.
Also no matter how big and strong the building, if you keep nibbling away at the foundations it will fall.

Its doesn't seem important but it most definitely is people are loosing and changing language everyday, I think not sounding like a dick head and looking like your a dumb **** is very important.
