its right over the clock, and doing my head in. It just scrolls allong showing different 3 adverts.

Well my mum has the same problem and it can be resolved. I will look up your mobile manual and will sort it out for you. In the meantime try contacting a 3 store direct. They have stores is most superdrug shops. It can be removed, here is what they told me for the LG 8360:
Dear Andrew Thank you for your email enquiring about the information bar on the main screen. The information bar is called the instant viewer and it I simple to turn off all you need to do is follow these instructions.
1. Press ‘Viewer' (OK key)
2. Press ‘options' (left soft key)
3. Press ‘Stop 3 Viewer' (at the bottom of the menu) Well that should be it the instant viewer should now be removed from the main screen.

I don't think it can be removed. I had it on my Nokia 6280. Just a very annoying 3 thing!

the easier way is to read the guides book included when you buying the phone...
