I think it's a skill to know when someone else has a better answer or is better at doing something, and knowing when to copy them. If you copy someone who isn't as good as you, then you're not doing yourself a favor. I think they say copy cat because they both have C's...for some reason copy monkey doesn't sound as good.

when I was a kid I got influenced by stuff I saw around in other people (facial expressions, manner of speach etc.).. at one point I 'd go around mimicking some of them, even making fun of them.. other times I was impressed and dubbed their behaveour.. later on I became too proud to really copy out others.. as for the use of the word cat in copycat, I think it is due to the fact that cats are swift creatures, thus offering a suitable personnification for the expression

As far as i know no, however there is someone always with the same idea i think only children are "copy cats" I kinda would say i grew outta that one!

nope not at all. People in my community tend to copy me instead. I started wearing bright red in my hair and then bam all of a sudden it is everywhere lol. All my friends started wearing theirs that way and then my kids wanted theirs done lol
