record songs off the radio for free but not off the internet?
Same for vcr's and televisions.

How about allowable instead?
They're not going to throw you in jail for it but I read a company was sueing a girls parents because she downloaded free music.
Also the internet says if you don't own the copyrights then you can't record for any reason. that includes personal usage or file sharing.

Technically it isn't. By law you should have the written consent of the copyright holder and broadcaster of any radio and TV broadcast that you want to record.

You'll never be able to sell those tapes and vcr u've recorded for money.
Its more ofr personal use and the quality is poor most of the time.

Its different if you got it thru the net, these are the original media and someone bought it with cash.
ITs gonna crash the market if everyone just waits for just 1 guy to buy it and shares it over the net.

I isn't legal to record stuff on vcr or off the radio if you intend on distributing it. You can if it is for your private entertainment.

Recording stuff off the radio & tv gets poor quality but stuff on the net are mostly exactly the same as the original copy & can be easily distributed

because advertisements are paying for the music too be played on the air waves.
chances are you have to work your way around commercials from radio and television.
but to get music for your self with out paying for it is a major - no - no .
and you can share the music you have purchased with your friends as long as you receive no money for it and as long as the recording artist and label ,accompany the shared music.
