Why is it that an obviously ignorant person asks a question about a topic of which they know NOTHING, but ask in a rhetorical fashion as though they do know. Secret prisons are not illegal. These people are not SUSPECTS. They were captured either on the battlefield, or they are TOP LEADERS like Ramsay Yusuf.
And what Hitler and Mussolini did has absolutely no bearing here. Bush isn't rounding up innocent civilians in the night. These people are militant operatives, getting caught in the middle of doing what they are doing. How could anyone be so ignorant, and yet so convinced?
And whether or not these guys go to trial, that is not the purpose of catching them. We don't EVER have to put them on trial. Geneva Conventions says we can hold them indefinitely, and the Supreme Court ruled that also, in Hamda v Rumsfeld.
It just amazes me that people can be so profoundly dumb, but when given an opportunity to correct their ignorance in a question/answer forum, they ask their question in such a way that implies that they already know the answer.
And the answerers are no better, acting as nothing more than an amen chorus.

Actually this is illegal here in the US and in several foreign countries. It also maybe a violation of the Geneva Convention (but I have not researched that yet). Unfortunately very few countries will challenge it because of fear. I think Bush thought admitting this would help him politically or was going to be difficult to keep secret for much longer...
He won't be arrested, just yet but you never know what may happen after 2008.

No, he should be question about IRAQ.
But in the case of secret prisons, a lot of the world's government has them. And not all of them are for terrorist.
The problem is how do we know the people in there are terrorist or just happen to have the same name/features as a wanted person.
Mistakes can and has happened. What about those people? What are their rights? Or do we take the better safe than sorry approach and let them rot in there?

bush should be held accountable and impeached for withholding evidence and bullshitting the American people for the past 6 yrs. He is a liar and a low life, who claims to be a Christian and yet acts in the name of freedom when really really it is oppression!
The sooner the Bush administration is held accountable for the past 6 yrs the better, after all he has proved that with admitting to illegally withholding people for interrogation through mass torture!
Considering the state of the far east and the position we find ourselves in, Bush should be held for war crimes against humanity...hes not a christian hes a satanist!

A week ago they would have said this is more "Conspiracy Theory bullsh.t", but now that he's admitted it, the general public seems to take it in stride that we - the US, our country, our own government - has once again lied, misled the public (just look at how long, how often & how vehemently they denied having these prisons!!!) and now George makes this off-handed remark and we should just swallow it, forget it & move on. And is it illegal?!! You bet your bippy it's illegal!!! Who are these prisoners, what are they accused of - specifically - , how are they being treated, who is their legal representation, have they had their speedy trial????? Maybe we need to take a look at our Missing Persons file. Anyone missing a friend or neighbor?? WHEN ARE WE MAKING THIS GOVERNMENT OF THUGS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR?!!!!!!!

Hmmmmm, lets evaluate this. Hitler commited suicide. Mussolini was strung up in the town square, and Stalin died fat dumb and happy in Moscow, held accountable? Lets look some more. Norwegians werent blowing themselves up on buses in berlin. French werent flying airplanes into the town square in Rome. And although the Finns did win a quaint little war with Russia, Finns werent exactly filling cars with 500 pounds of explosives and killing russians.
Secret prisons? As far as I'm concerned, Bush should build more of them.

I think the public gets too much information sometimes, but hasn't the ability to weigh up all the facts and make an informed opinion.
If people get arrested because of the dodgy lifestyles they choose to adopt, then that's fine by me.
If my family gets to sleep safer at night, then that is only right and justifiable.

Now we can see American terror on innocent people. Having people in prison without a court? Hm mm...I thought their motto (only for Americans obviously) is that people are innocent till the guilt is proved by the court.
American policy was and still is similar than those dictators you mentioned.
