I wish I could teach you. Something I always wanted to pick up on but never did. If you want to learn, the internet can be useful. Here is a link to help you get started hopefully:

I'd recommend buying two books, one for beginner classical guitar and a book on chord diagrams. Those will show you how to fret the notes and how to play chords from sheet music.

If you google guitar tabs or guitar pro tabs you can find websites to get tabs for whatever songs you want to learn. Be aware though that some tabs are not accurate, while others are detailed and even notate drums, bass, keyboards.

The best way to learn is to play along with other musicians, don't be intimidated if they are better than you. You'll be surprised how quickly you progress. If you don't want to play along with other musicians play along as you listen to your favorite songs. This will help you train your ear so that you can play on pitch.

Also be prepared for some pain in your finger tips after a while you will develop callouses. Cut the nails on your fretting hand as short as possible.

To make it easier to play you can get lighter guage strings or go with nylon or silk and steel, instead of the regular steel strings.

If you have any questions post here.

Congratulations on taking up learning to play an instrument. I am going to learn how to play the Sax soon - such sexy music.

Anyhow, my friend is learning how to play and found out from this site called Jamorama. He is sounding pretty good too, not quite band material yet.

Hope you are playing sweet music soon. Maybe we can get together. lol
