"Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don't worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it." -- Ariel Sharon to Shimon Peres, October 3rd, 2001, as reported on Kol Yisrael

I am a (legal) immigrant from Thailand and a world traveler.
When I hear America the Land of Opportunity, I am grateful.
People in other countries do not enjoy the freedoms, opportunities, security, resources, and protection of the laws and Constitution that Americans have.
Many people misunderstand what opportunity is. Opportunity is a favorable condition, a prospect, or chance. It is not a right to free food or free rent. It is a chance for improvement. But a person must get off his lazy-complaining azz to seize the opportunity. The opportunity must be used.
People who ride the welfare train and whine about bad luck, racism, and lack of opportunity in this country would starve in most other countries. They would die in the street gutter.
If people complained about the government and politicians in some other countries as they do here, their doors would be kicked in and they would be arrested in the night and even shot.
Americans don't believe it, because they have never seen it.
Americans should be thankful for what they have. They should look at their flag with love. They should support their leaders. They should be what their forefathers dreamed of, "One Nation Under God" instead of a divided pack of ravenous and cowardly jackals complaining that they are not fed and life is not fair.
I appreciate every minute in this great land, even if Americans don't. I'll grow and prosper with her opportunities and give thanks to God. I won't sit home complacent, whining and reviling because life is not fair.
Thank God for America, the Land of Opportunity
God bless her and her people

At first, I feel sad, because I think that our "forefathers" went to great lengths to make sure that it stayed that way for all the rest of the generations of Americans.
But, to see the facts, and how over time, the original values have been shifted and twisted, to where now if I hear any of those slogans, "The land of the free", "The land of opportunity", etc....
I feel nauseous. Really, truly.
