sta·tis·tics (st-tstks)

NOUN:

1. (used with a sing. verb) The mathematics of the collection, organization, and interpretation of numerical data, especially the analysis of population characteristics by inference from sampling.

2. (used with a pl. verb) Numerical data.

Without statistics (2) 99% of all other math becomes useless, and all the sciences revert to philosophical arguments, largely unprovable. All fields of endeavor use statistics in one form or another.

Unfortunately, statistics, sometimes correctly used, but usually incorrectly used, provides scaremongers with infinite job security. (See answer 2.)

You can usually apply or misapply statistics to any topic, so what interests you the most?

Yes the statistics is very relevant and of great importance in our society. Even people who does not know about statistics uses this everyday. Think of someone using how much salt is needed in food is a statistical calculation. You choose your home furniture based on the statistical data that the shop is better than the other one; as most of ur friends said this so. You buy something from grocery store, the brand u choose, is based on statistical data available to you that this is the best. Likewise, weather forecasting, scientific experiments every where you will find statistics.

hat is statistics and what can it do? This course uses statistical techniques to investigate everyday situations and will give you an understanding of statistical ideas. Taking the question, ‘Are we getting better off?’, we develop techniques of exploratory data analysis. We then introduce the basics of statistical inference, asking questions like ‘Does class size affect pupils’ performance?’ Finally, looking at medicine and health, we underline the relevance of statistics to decision making by asking questions like, ‘Is my child developing normally?’ and considering the relationship between smoking and lung disease. You need some basic mathematics knowledge.

Statistics allow us to predict descriptions of a population of events or subjects based on a small number of randomly chosen events or subjects.

It's useful when you have a product and want to predict how many have a particular type of problem when you can only test a limited number (due to time and/or money related limitations).

I'm not going to do your essay for you.
