the games are frightening because you are involved in what the character does. The movie was extremely good but was lacking the fear and excitement..... what do you think?

I'm a long term fan of the games and I suppose I will always prefer them because they were there first - I mean without the games there would be no movie!

The movie was incredibly faithful - going with the story of the first game, changing it enough to make it familiar yet keep those who had played the game guessing. The use of visuals and sound were consistent with the game - music taken directly from the soundtracks, the fog everywhere, and using the camera angles and movements. Certainly the best video game to movie adaptation yet (although that's not saying much...)

However a movie is limited by its running time - at around 2 hours it will always be shorted than a video game. So the games have more scope for story and development. The 4 games have shown a variety of artistic styles, loads of monsters with different ways to kill them, lots of locations, characters and puzzles and are artistic in a way a movie just couldn't be.

In general, given the absolute choice, I would ditch video games forever in favour of movies. There are just too many mediocre ones. But when it comes to an amazing series like Silent Hill the games do have the chance to stand above any adaptation that can be made.

To me the most important aspect is the interactivity. The fact that you are controlling the character's actions makes you more involved in the world - you buy into the atmosphere and story quicker and easier. I find it more scary because I can act and react with and to the environment. If I hear a scary noise in a film I know that the cause is either going to be revealed or it isn't, I have no control over it. In the games, I hear a scary noise and I know I have a choice - do I freeze in fright? turn and run? or turn and fight? Most games are about fighting things, but Silent Hill is a rare one - you get so involved that you react more as you would in real life, so you are often inclined to just get the hell out of there!
I believe it's that factor that sets the video game experience over that of the movie.

I don't find the games frightening because as with all computer games, they seem contrived. Not saying I don't love gaming, it's just I'm in control and one thing always leads to the next which feels safe to me.

When I'm watching a film I feel like I can't control what will happen and when so that's more frightening to me as I find the experience unsettling. The film reminded me of Hell Raiser in a lot of ways and there's nothing wrong with that.

silent hill gets greater in deep with metaphysical and kabalistic references and delivers tricks of greater extreme and exciting matters jointly as resident evil is all the comparable with the zombies, plus RE4 sucked the vast banana with the Spanish zombies-issues surely silent hill is lots greater appropriate

games, have better storylines not restricted by the amount of time a movie has to play. which is too expensive and boring to last 5 hours or more
