I got to say Al Pacino is a way better actor than the Late Great Marlon Brando.

Both have strong points.
Each in a different time period.
Marlon Brando became more of an icon that Al Pacino.
Some of what Al Pacino did is a bit dull.
He seems to have been type cast as a mob character.
Many movies in which he uses foul language, although sometime appropriate, gets carried away.
The Brasco movie was terrible.
Marlon Brando gets my vote for doing many different types.

I believe that Marlon Brando was the first or second most gifted actor, depending on what category one places Sir Laurence Olivier. The trouble with Brando was that he was a tortured soul, and he often coasted through roles (particularly in the 1960's) in rather spotty productions. Therefore, he was rarely giving his best.
Pacino on the other hand has always given everything...with some masterful results, indeed, he DeNiro's only direct equal.
However, Brando's best are indeed the very best in history. "On The Waterfront," "The Wild One," "Reflections In A Golden Eye," "The Godfather," and "Apocalypse Now" are the very best performances in history...

Marlon Brando was the best American actor ever. Al Pacino won't get full front page covers when he passes away. He'd probably be mortified, if he did.

I think they are both wonderful. And they have played a variety of roles. However, whenever I see On the Waterfront, I would have to pick Marlon.
