Its because its a never ending struggle and the African ethnicities have never adapted to other cultures. I dont see it as a entire race issue. Its more of a problem in larger urban areas. Alot of it reflects back to the start of slavery where..in fact...blacks sold their own people in the slave trading business.

Please do not take this the wrong way because I absolutely mean it the right way, I can tell that you are very intellegent by your question. I am not the least bit prejudice, where I live is in a prodominately black area. It's not an area with money so it's a little rough. Black people are not different because of the color of their skin. Thats obvious, people are people, the things that make races different are they cultural backgrounds and they way they grow up. I know alot of black adults making a good life for themselves and being very succesfull. I believe that a person, black or white, who comes from a neighborhood like the one that surrounds me tend to be more violent and less goal oriented. It just so happens that most of them are black, and the reason being is this, I know black people have had a hard time in this country and have went through alot. It is sad, but what is even sadder is how hard it is to break the chain. Their race was oppressed and became poor and had few rights. So in todays society so much of the race has yet to realize that it is all out there for them now. It is hard though when you come from no money, trust me I know, that is a problem every race in America knows. Statistics show that only 6 percent of people from lower income families will ever make it to middle or upper middle class, and thats of every race. Crime is spawned by lack of money but I do believe the African American race has come a long way in the last decade and I believe more and more kids coming from these poorer neighborhoods are realizing what they need to do to achieve a good life. I hope I havent offended you in any way because that is not my intention. Im just a fellow American expressing my views on people. Feel free to email me with any feedback. Have a good one.

I appreciate your point but the question is really much larger than that. Why is there still human on human crime? You would have though that as a race we would have realised by now that it gets us nowhere for the better. Each race you mentioned is just as knee deep in crime, physical, emotional, spiritual, you name it. On the other hand there have been and still are marvelous black people who have contributed immeasurably to the human race. They will not be forgotten and the message is still alive. Martin Luther King Jr would be very proud, I believe, if he were around today to see how things have changed. Sure, there is still a ways to go but it has not been long since his days, in the grand scheme of things. Bar standing on a soapbox, the only thing anyone can do about it is to make sure they do right in their own lives and try to be a positive influence on those around them.

I agree.
Let me take it further. Why is there still so much crime in a country like the United States, where the possibility for uniting for the common good is so strong. We are the most successful country in the world up until now, for whatever reason, but we're slowly pissing it away. A lot of this is due, I think, to crime and people who refuse to live with society.

I often hear this complaint.."why black on black crime",and when I hear this i think the person who asks it wishes there was more black on white crime. Whats interesting is that in 2006 American blacks are the wealthiest and most protected blacks in any country on earth yet with all of the extraordinary lengths the government goes through to make sure at least 1% of blacks make a success out of themselves you all just play the victim in every question you ask.

I am white and I dont why it is still happening. But I will tell you one thing. This country isnt for blacks or whites. You and your people just gained your freedoms and next thing we know the government is letting everyone into the country,no questions asked. Now speaking spanish in school is a requirement instead of a choice and we are getting rid of the pledge of allegence and merry christmas.No-one learned how to speak Italian when my family came over. I think its because you and your people still like you dont have a ground to stand on just like us white people feel.

Because Black people have not learned to love themselves the way they should. Black dollars leave the black community in less than 5 minutes. Black people dont accept each other's wonderful differences...too worried about hair grade, skin shade and eye color. Lol. I'm mixed female, I know all too well what you mean.. and it really sucks. Maybe one day we gonna overcome...ourselves.

Asher, your a man after my own hart.I have a good Friend who happens to be black. He feels very much as you do.He once said to me that we (black Americans) have been down so god damn long that it looks like up to me.As the grandson of a German immigrant (me) I think I get what he's saying I feel that as a social group, like German Americans, that the black man/woman has to make it on there own and I don't mean equality I mean the normal stuff, mind set, financial security, family, perceived place in the social order. I hope I make myself clear. as my father once said, get your own and the devil take the hind most.

Opportunity. Chances are that if you're black, so are the people next to you and down the street.
In the broader sense, because of conditions not of your choosing when you first got here (America), your genes were scrambled which produced different shades of color, which makes it harder for you all to unite as one.
I wasn't here when that happened.

seems to me you are articulate in ur promo but I just don't see the racial part of it most people are subject to what they believe
why not drop the color and call yourself an earthling let the prejudice go we all have conflict and struggle even the rich regardless of the less significant or more significant skin issue to escape the box u first have to think out of it
good luck to u and much Happiness!
