I want to know detail of a case in US, where litigation was filed against a company for polluting the lake. The company lost the case, and it had to pay compensation.

I'd need to know specifics to look it up for you but you should be able to find it in your local court documents, most of which are online now, sounds like it would be public information.

You should find out in which court (state or federal, county, city, township, etc...) the case was filed and decided. You then contact the Prothonotary of that court and ask what you need to do to look at the documents. You would be able to do that, even go to the prothonotary and photocopy the documents. If you don't know where the case was filed, try and research any cases filed against that company and narrow down your search by using anything you know, like dates, or who actually filed the case. Free legal research can be found on www.findlaw.com, but it is best if you can go on to a legal search engine (paying), like Westlaw or Lexus Nexus. You might also want to consider, if it is available to you, going to a free law library, and have the librarian help you look it up.
