Homeopathic Remedies are prescribed according to the patients symptoms not the disease. What I have found to be the most effective in most people affected with ADD is the Homeopathic Remedy AVENA SATIVA Mother Tincture, 20 drops in half a cup of warm water thrice a day half hour before meals. Please keep me posted about the child's progress and conditions if you decide to give him this remedy.

Prescription for Natural Cures - Balch & Stengler - has a chapter on ADD and discusses several alternative options. You might also want to read Magnet Therapy by Lawrence and Rosch, and Miracle Cures (pycnogenol) by Jean Carper for two more interesting alternatives to methylphenidate.
