I'm taking an A+ certification class and I'd like the best sources for details on processors, memory, chipsets, motherboards etc. I need specs not just marketing mumbo jumbo. It would also be cool to find info on old parts like AT motherboards.

The person above I think misunderstood. You are looking for reading material so you can learn more about the hardware components. AIDA32 is a software program that tells you what kind of hardware/software is installed on your PC.

I would go to Wikipedia.org and search there first. Although not all the info out there is 100% accurate, most of it is pretty damn close and it's free. Then I would search on the net for "A+ Certification" (use the quotes) and you should find a lot of hits.

Personally, I would go to your local library. There's probably a lot of material you can check out for free.

I have Used it for Years. never Fails.

AIDA32 is a professional system information, diagnostics and benchmarking program running on Win32 platforms. It extracts details of all components of the PC. It can display information on the screen, print it, or save it to file in various formats like HTML, CSV or XML. For corporate users, AIDA32 offers command-line switches, network audit and audit statistics, remote system information and network management.
