1. Respect
2. Appreciation
3. Like the other's character
4. Love

It's a good list; I'd add the ability to talk to each other -- about anything -- without getting into a fight. Another responder has mentioned trust; that's good too. Also, add responsibility.

Respect is the most important. I can't imagine how numbers 2, 3 and 4 can exist without respect. Physical attraction, however, is also important but if its the only thing you have, I don't think your marriage will last for long.

I think trust and love are the foundation of a good marriage or relationship. If u trust each other completely and know in yr heart that yr spouse love u then every thing else will fall into place . Coz if he loves and trusts u then he will respect u. And appreciate u for who u r. And if 2 people truly love each other then liking each others personality automatically happens coz its bcoz u love each other for who u r that u stay together.

For me, the most important ingredient of marriage is love and respect. It should always go together because no matter how you love the person but lost your respect, it won't work. If you respect and love your other half, then everything will follow. that's what i'm applying now to my marriage life, and I'm happy to say that its working!

i divorce 2 years ago. Biggest problem was sex. From the beggining sex was not good but i loved him, trusted him, respect him and i thought that its easy to change but NO.

If u dont have a good sex with your husband u start to think bad, get jealous get nervous and so on. Now i have a new boyfriend we have a really good sex and everything is going very good so im very happy!

4. LOVE.
Yes, you should stay married. It is for better or for worse and only adultery gives you a window out, should you choose to take it even then.
